Stumbled across Bangkok Bay Thai when we were at Lake Macquarie today. We were drawn to the restaurant by the lovely view from the balcony.
The views didn’t disappoint and the food was even better! We had Thai Sausages, Spring Rolls, Thai Beef Salad, Pork Knuckle and Pad See Ew. Every dish we had was absolutely delicious and they didn’t hold back on quality ingredients and flavours. They were very generous with their portions and the amount of meat they’ve given us. And even down to coconut drink having slices of coconut in there.
It was a pleasant surprise indeed – we would highly recommend and come back again the next time we’re here.

Offering an impressive menu, a standout was the unique entrée options. Entrees you don’t find on every menu, made with only the freshest ingredients.
The wonderful Ink champions exceptional service and runs a tight operation alongside her team. The restaurant’s atmosphere is upbeat, and the balcony views are a highlight. There’s something special about dining with undisturbed views of Lake Mac.
Highly recommended and we look forward to visiting again!
Had a Tom yum soup made entirely from scratch as far as I could tell which is surprising considering how many places use pre made packets while this place had bits of lemongrass in it my partner had pad kra pao (holy basil) and she has been hunting down an authentic version of the dish in Australia and had no luck until now and she loved it very spicy but it’s tolerable and irresistible will definitely be coming back frequently 🙏🙏
Food was by far the best Thai I have ever had! Not any places have soft shell crab on the menu and places I have seen are nowhere near as generous with their portion sizes. Neither of us could finish our meal.
Sat at a table on the balcony and it was absolutely beautiful! Amazing views of over the lake and very close to the jetty. We are already planning our next lunch there where we will take the JetSki over rather than drive.
Staff were amazing. Kind, well mannered and very attentive, bringing water and menus as soon as we sat down. Food was prepared fast yet still had amazing presentation.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough and cannot fault a single thing.
